Some of us are old enough to remember the gloaming of hot summer days waning into twilight, listening to cicadas and the sweet, two-note call of bobwhite quail gathering for the night. A few of us of us know the intense excitement of coming up behind a bird dog on point and the explosive flush of a 40-bird covey suddenly in the air.
